OUR PHILOSOPHY

At The Learning Cottage, we believe every child is unique and we embrace individual differences by incorporating various learning styles in our classrooms. Our philosophy is rooted in the importance of play as a crucial element of early learning. We provide a positive and nurturing environment where children can thrive through exploration and creativity.

We incorporate sensory activities, movement, and art projects as essential components of our daily curriculum. By encouraging children to explore and play, we help them build confidence, make choices, and learn valuable social skills. Our curriculum also focuses on fostering independence and character development.

Our goal is to ensure that each child experiences daily success and develops healthy habits, a strong sense of community, and the foundational skills necessary for lifelong learning. Our Infant room is designed to foster bonds and relationships with teachers and other babies while incorporating American Sign Language, music, and gross motor activities. Infants at The Learning Cottage know they are safe and loved as they develop social, cognitive, and motor skills in a home-like setting.

Toddler

Our Toddlers eagerly enter their room with smiles, toddling to their teachers and peers. Daily activities include American Sign Language, music, outdoor experiences, motor and muscle activities, sensorial experiences, and more. Toddlers follow a monthly umbrella theme and weekly sub-themes that enhance their academic skills while nurturing their social-emotional development.

Jr. Preschool

In the Jr. Preschool room, children begin to work towards common goals using The Blend curriculum. Children enjoy small group lessons, outdoor classrooms, and child choice time, utilizing strategically enhanced centers and experiences that blend social-emotional growth, academic achievements, and weekly sub-themes.

Preschool

Using The Blend curriculum and state standards, children ages 3–4 years follow an academic rotation that includes arts, math, science, and language while working in small groups for individualized learning. Through our unique approach, children enhance their learning goals through play and smaller classroom ratios. In addition to monthly academic goals, preschoolers learn character development, gain confidence through life skills activities, and enjoy Spanish lessons.

Private Pre-K

Children in Private Pre-Kindergarten follow a small group rotation working on kindergarten standards, featuring an artist of the month, a monthly theme, and weekly sub-themes. Pre-K children enhance their math, science, and language development in the classroom, outdoor areas, gardens, and more. During child choice opportunities, children can choose from Montessori lessons, creative center play, or natural experiences. They also follow monthly character development, life skills, and Spanish themes and activities

Private Kindergarten

Private Kindergarten caters to students and families seeking a small transitional setting for their young learners or children who have completed our Private Pre-Kindergarten year but miss the cut-off for public school. Children in Private Kindergarten work on kindergarten and first-grade standards in small groups with low classroom ratios. Students cover all subjects and enrichment opportunities such as music, arts, Spanish, character development, and life skills in addition to their daily academics.

What are the hours of operation?

We are open from 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, January through December.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept ACH and credit card payments via our childcare software provider.

Do you offer discounts for families with more than one child enrolled?

Yes, we offer multi-child discounts for our full-time students.

We knew we wanted to be a part of The Learning Cottage before our first child was born. They have created a caring and supportive atmosphere where both of our children have thrived. When our oldest, Xavier, had a difficult time transitioning back into daycare after being out for a period, Ms. Kerry, Ms. Andrea, and his teachers all took extra time with him to help him re-adjust and understand that he was in a safe and fun environment. We found The Learning Cottage during a turbulent time in our family’s life. Peak of a COVID Delta Wave (while working in the ED), the other in a job transition, medical emergency resulting in emergent surgery and to top it off our previous day care shut the doors one Friday and told us it would be closed indefinitely (we had a 2 year old and 3 month old at the time). I remember staying up all night searching the web, driving by countless daycares after long shifts making numerous calls just trying to get a tour.
